Ekanusa –– 01: Presenting Singapore Malay peoples' past - "gaps and distortion"

In this talk, we'll be shown how the dominant construction of Singapore history has “gaps and distortion” (Alatas 1998). This in turn have consequences to the presentation of Singapore Malay peoples’ past.

About EkaNUSa:
EkaNUSa is an initiative between Teater Ekamatra and our lovely friends at the Malay Studies Department of the National University of Singapore to bring the worlds of academia and the arts together. For the six sessions we have planned, we will have Dr Suriani Suratman and Dr Azhar Ibrahim, discuss the topic of the day with the audience.

Through these talks and sharing sessions, we hope to create a space for us to deliberate on the prevalent discourse on selected subject matters. We believe that the insights gained from these sessions will be invaluable to our individual and collective journeys, be it in academia, the arts, or both.

EkaNUSa is one of a few series of conversations which we will be bringing to Greymatter. We wish to create a space and community for all of us to learn, share, and grow together and hope that you will join us!
